Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Callibrate your Wacom tutorialHad you finally made the transition from intuos 3 to intuos 4?, or Are you rich to change into an intuos 5? Had you made the transition from a first generation cintiq to the new ones?. More levels of pressure will mean more quality to the paintings, am i right?.
Did you thought that by default the pen will it be like using butter on bread?, you try it for the first time and you love all of it, you said i have sooooooo much control on my strokes im having a blast. Then only to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.

Hey all!

Just noticed I haven't posted a journal entry in 2 years! Thought I'd better let the 1 and a half people out there that might read this know that I'm still alive and kickin!

Uni has been and gone for me now and I can finally say I am a qualified animator, however I still have much to learn! In the time away I have been very busy on quite a lot of things, namely my short film 'Against the Grain' which I worked on with another student Chris O'Keefe. It took us around 8 months and about 2000 hours to create our 3 and a half minute mini epic, but it was well worth it! The project taught me SOOO many things about creating a short film not only on a technical level, but on a social and emotional level as well. I am super proud of how it turned out and going in to uni from the beginning, I never expected we could achieve what we did.

To top it all off our film was accepted into the Melbourne International Animation Festival and will be showing this Sunday! Here's a link with the program. (We're down near the bottom of the list)

Unfortunately at the moment we can't post up our film on the internet until we are done showing it in festivals, but sit tight and you may see it soon.

Soooo, now that I'm no longer neck-deep in uni assessments I want to get a little more active on my deviant posting. You may have even already noticed I've starting chucking some work up again. WOO! I do have another project on the go at the moment as well but I can't really post much until we get closer to finishing. What I can say is it's an iPhone game, and it's been damn fun to work on. Especially coz I get to do all of the art for it!

Anyways... I've spent quite a lot of time working in 3D so i'm pretty eager to get going on some 2D cartoony stuff! Anyone got some suggestions to get the ball rolling maybe?

That's great to hear mang, you have become so much more talented because of Uni. You're work has always been great, but now it's fucking great! So I'm really keen to see what else you churn out these days!

I think it'd be cool to see you do some cartoony monster/creatures.. Maybve even try and go a little more detailed, or you should try and invent your own character that you could use over again. Like just imagine that you have to do a character concept for a comic book, see what you can come up with.. Like a Cole MacGrath kind of dude or a kickass chick or something..

I'm about to try and re-create my Darkness Within character AGAIN.. I've just come across a few new ideas.. Can't wait to see what you do mate. And by the way I'm hell keen to catch up with you guys, ever since Brent mentioned that reunite thing I just want to catch up. I might even make a trip up soon with Allira just to hang with you c@nts
