Ok after having pretty much the worst day ever last week when my ipod got wiped, I suddenly had one of the best damn weekends ever!
After deadline at work finished last week and I didn't have much to do I took Friday off and went for a bit of a shop in the city. Then when I got back I headed out to the local pub with my usual crew and we had a pretty good night. Then saturday came and it was Australia Day so we went down to St Kilda beach and listened to the Triple J Hottest 100, had a barbeque and plenty more drunken shenanigans! Awesome day all in all...
...but it doesnt end there! On sunday I was felling pretty overhung and underslept but I had a couple of my old tassie mates flying into Melbourne so up I got and had another awesome night out in the city with those guys.
THEN... monday came and it was a public holiday and I had a ticket to THE BIG DAY OUT!!! So once again feeling quite hungover we all got up and headed down to Flemington raceway where it was being held. As soon as I entered the gate I saw Anti-flag get on the stage. I knew from that point it was going to be one of the sickest days ever! I got to see some really awesome bands that day including:
Anti-flag
Gyroscope
Enter Shikari (they rocked so good!)
Behind Crimson Eyes
A bit of Silverchair and Grinspoon
Karnivool (massive sound, they're awesome!)
The Nightwatchmen - (last song was soooo cool, Tom Morello, Billy Bragg and the anti-flag guys did a cover of Midnight Oil's - Beds are Burning)
Then came the end of the day and the final act:
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE!!!!
That is one performance I will NEVER forget. They have this strange way of making every single person at the concert go absolutely mental!
So now it's tuesday and my poor body aches and my liver is pretty ruined but I believe it was all worth it!
